Norwich Mayor Deb Hinchey
Deb Hinchey was elected in November of 2013 and took the oath of office in December of 2013, becoming Norwich’s first female Mayor.
Deb Hinchey is the daughter of a Naval Officer and grew up throughout the east coast before her family settled in Norwich in the 1970s.
Prior to being elected Mayor, Hinchey served on the city council. In her role on the council she held a leadership role in the Commission on the City Plan, which developed Norwich’s 10 year economic development plan, she also served on the Public Works Committee, and the Mohegan Park Advisory Committee.
Deb Hinchey is a graduate of Eastern Connecticut State University and holds a Masters Degree from UConn. Prior to being elected Mayor she was a social worker.
Today, Deb Hinchey lives with her husband Lloyd in the East Great Plains section of Norwich. She is a long-time parishioner of Park Congregational Church, and Deb and Lloyd regularly go hiking with their dog Hesston.
